Deephaven Revival
Deephaven, MN This colonial revival house built in
the 1950s was a simple rectangle with a walk-out lower level on a tremendously deep lot. The house had no connection to the sweeping back yard, windows were small and access extremely limited. We developed a three story addition expressed in a classical order of base, middle and top. Extending into the backyard and exposed on all three sides, the addition was wrapped with windows for light and views. Each level was dedicated to one of the three main programmatic goals: a large writer’s studio, a kitchen and family room, and a master suite.
